EIBJ Travel operates in compliance with sustainable development principles.
Sustainable development is a concept that calls for economic growth over the long term while taking environmental and social constraints into account. The term was first used in a 1987 report issued by the United Nations’ World Commission on Environment and Development – familiarly known as the Brundtland Report. It states that sustainable development is “development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.”
As for sustainable tourism, it is defined by the World Tourism Organization (WTO) as “Tourism that takes full account of its current and future economic, social, and environmental impacts, addressing the needs of visitors, the industry, the environment, and host communities.” Sustainable tourism strives to achieve a balance between the three pillars of sustainable development and the production and implementation of tourism activities.
